Was bad for part of one night, but it's back to normal now.
Barely any lag. Minor hiccups on occasion, sometimes battles will miss about a 1-2 seconds before catching you back up. Better than 90% of MMO's at launch. |

Troll?
I am new to the forums, but I have been keeping up to date and currently hold a lvl 15 character. In response to the lag and horse questions, I have received only minor rubberbanding very infrequently, and a horse is not available, nor is one required due to the instant traveling available to cities you've already visited.
I played WoW for a couple of months, and found it annoying (to say the least) that a horse was required to not spend valuable time running from place to place. This game is mind boggling in that it encompasses a fix for nearly every flaw that other MMO's have had. (That is of course, my opinion) I hope that answers your questions. |

It makes me really happy to hear you like this game more than WoW. I had to cancel my WoW subscription because end game was so boring. I found that when I was looking for another game, i was looking for a copy of WoW because I had so much fun with it. While this game isnt a copy I think it still looks promising. The only thing Iam not feeling is that unlike in WoW, you cant just walk around and see other people who are playing, help them, fight them, ect. unless in a town or a party. But when I think about it, thats pretty much what Diablo2 was. I've got 40 bucks. the game is 49(before tax). You should see my Warrior/elementalist or warrior/necro in towns by friday!
ps, Anyone ever seen a warrior/necro before? Iam thinking it mite be cool. |

THERE'S LAG? :P heheh, I have yet to feel lag since I bought GWs. So far its had a much smoother release than most MMOs i've seen.
The best thing is the way they did the update system. Plus how new areas are loaded to you as you go on, and it happens quite quickly too. I like it to much. Plus AHEM the game doesn't close down and use Bit...torrent...to hand out its update to users...AHEM i wonder who would be stupid enough to do that?...sigh |

How long do necromancer minions stay? Unless they die, can they follow you for ever?

when i was using my friends connection i experienced a few hiccups, but nothing too serious. i also tried it on dial-up, Hold the laughter. despite waiting about 10 min for the game to load, once it was loaded it did not run all that bad. there was the hiccup issue but i did not experience any major lag, but i never went questing. that's my next goal, is to see how it works when questing.

Necro minions start degrading *(thought about saying they start to die but they are already dead :P) when created they are NOT pets.

I guess it depends on where you are. I have a 5mbs cable connection, and I lag all the time with this. It's not serious lag, but during peak hours there's a lot of monster warping, skills taking a few moments to go off, and having to wait a few seconds for merchant/quest windows to show up. The again in game I see a lot of other people complaining about lag when I forget to turn chat off, so it's not just me. I almost doubt the people here who say they get no lag. I've actually been logging off at peak hours because sometimes it's just not playable.

Been seeing a lot of lag around early evening (UK) that makes this unplayable.
Hoping it doesn't keep up like that, as this is otherwise a superb game.. Just that rubberbanding really takes it out of someone who solos mesmers.. |

I get the occassional "rubber band" effect in PvE but no real lag problems until I tried the Yak's Bend Arena last night. That was just terrible. Don't know if it was one of the players or what that was lagging me.

I was on all weekend PST from the wee hours in the morning to late hours in the evening. I had lag but I am atributing it to a few things. 1. Dial-up connection, high speed isn't offered where I live yet. 2. I was running the minimum requirements on RAM. Last night one of my mother boards fried on me and so I switched PCs and added a 128 stick to the 256 in that machine and things load faster now. I did notice that my lag was higher when I was in the lower districts of seared ascalon. Most likely do to the amount of people there.
